THE Ministry of Energy and Energy Affairs yesterday reiterated that no license conditional, provisional or otherwise has been awarded to Bunkers International or any subsidiary of the company. In a statement yesterday, the ministry said to avoid any doubt, this clarification was also communicated in writing to the principals of Bunkers Oil Trinidad and Tobago Limited, the subsidiary of Bunkers International.

The statement was in response to requests made by president general of Oilfields Workers’ Trade Union (OWTU) in an address to the nation on Sunday.

Roget said Energy Minister Kevin Ramnarine in August announced in a post-Cabinet press conference that a license was awarded for bunkering to Bunker’s Oil Trinidad and Tobago Limited.

Roget requested that no license be awarded to any company and that Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar investigate the award of any license. However there has been no indication to date to suggest that matter has been referred to Persad-Bissessar.
