McCann Erickson (Trinidad) brands awards

Thursday, March 22 2007

McCann Erickson’s work for some of this country’s top brands — bmobile, Angostura, MAGGI, Burger King, Tourism Development Com-pany (TDC) and Coca-Cola - was awarded for outstanding creativity by a panel of international judges at the 2007 Caribbean Advertising Federation ADDY Awards.

With regional ad agencies competing, McCann swept the show, winning ten Golds, 19 silvers and copping three of the Best of The Best titles, including the show’s top honour – Best Of Show Overall for the Angostura Blu Vodka campaign.

McCann also won Best TVC for bmobile “Fatman” Football World Cup spot as well as Best Art Direction for the bmobile “Football Anime” animated TV spot.

This, said McCann, made the company the most awarded ad agency in the Caribbean

Last year, McCann was also the most awarded agency at the 2006 AAATT Trinidad and Tobago Crea-tive Excellence Awards, winning a total of 27 awards, including the coveted 2006 Campaign of the Year award. That was the seventh year in a row that McCann walked away with the most awards proving their strength in both local and regional judging forums.

James Smith, General Manager of McCann, said, “We are proud to have a great team of talented people at McCann. These awards are certainly something we feel proud to have achieved,” said Smith. “At the end of the day, it’s big ideas and big strategy that make big brands and big winners and they are the benchmarks by which we measure our success.”

The judging for the 2007 CAF ADDY Awards took place in St Thomas, US Virgin Islands by three of the industry’s top professionals, Evelyn Neill formerly of Weiden and Kennedy and now co-founder of Sannibel Sea School; Stephen Rogers, GKV Communications and former National ADDY chairman; and Deanne Paschke, Director of Brand Partnerships and Promotions for Carlson Hotels Worldwide.
