Digicel ramps up BlackBerry Curve

Thursday, August 23 2007

Digicel, the mobile telecommunications operator in the Caribbean and new entrant to the Central American market, is working with Research in Motion to expand its impressive suite of smartphone offerings with the launch of the new, cutting edge and stylish BlackBerry Curve to Digicel customers across the Caribbean and El Salvador.

Digicel was the first mobile operator in the Caribbean, Bermuda and El Salvador to offer the BlackBerry Curve, with Bermuda being the first of Digicel’s 22 markets to offer the impressive new smartphone to customers.

The BlackBerry Curve is the smallest and lightest full QWERTY BlackBerry smartphone, yet it delivers the full, renowned BlackBerry email and messaging experience with premium phone features, powerful web browsing and advanced multimedia capabilities. The smartphone includes RIM’s intuitive trackball navigation system, two megapixel camera, enhanced media player and high-performance browser in a smooth and friendly design.

Encased in a liquid silver finish with chrome highlights and smooth edges, the BlackBerry Curve blends a unique combination of high-end features, usability and design.

“We are pleased to now offer the BlackBerry Curve as part of our family of BlackBerry smartphones,” said Ben Atherton, Digicel Group Marketing Director. “The BlackBerry Curve, with its powerful blend of communications, multimedia and web features in the small and lightweight design, will be a compelling mobile offering for both businesses and consumers.”

“The BlackBerry solution continues to grow in popularity around the globe and we are very pleased to work with Digicel to offer this new smartphone to their customers across the Caribbean and El Salvador,” said Mark Guibert, Vice President, Corporate Marketing at Research in Motion.
