THE ANIMATED “Origami” commercial conceived by Rostant Advertising for the Guardian Holdings Group, and produced by Roy Williams Animation, won the “Most Successful Commercial Animation 2008” at the Animae Caribe 7th Caribbean Animation Awards.

At the awards function at the Hyatt Regency, GHL’s Origami beat out submissions from as far afield as Iran, Slovakia, Brazil, Switzerland, USA, UK and the Caribbean.

Rostant Advertising head and writer Lorraine Rostant, together with Art Director Andres D’Imperio, teamed up for the origami concept.

The talents of animator Roy Williams gave the commercial its winning edge.

The concept uses origami style objects (humming bird, boat, London bus) moving across stylised backgrounds to tell the story of the countries in which GHL operates and the company’s core business and values.

The title of “Most Successful Commercial Animation” is awarded to any outstanding animation used in the commercial industry including TV commercials, music videos and web pages. Maria Mc Millan, group vice-president, corporate communications, GHL, said that the concept was an original and captivating one, and the use of animation avoided the costs and complexities of using models from around the world.
