bmobile wins gold on global stage

Thursday, May 31 2007

One of the world’s biggest and most coveted advertising awards competitions is the final stage of the American Advertising Federation’s (AAF) ADDY Creative awards held every year in the US.

This year, McCann Erickson Trinidad was the only agency in the Caribbean to be awarded GOLD for its work on bmobile.

The agency won for the popular bmobile Football “Passion” Animé television spot that ran during the World Cup last year.

AAF’S ADDY Awards honour excellence in advertising and cultivate the highest creative standards in the industry. With over 60,000 entries and three separate stages of judging — the local level — Caribbean, Regional level — Florida/Caribbean and finally the National — US/world.

Whereas many local and regional agencies won Gold and Silver at the local level, and several won Gold or Silver at the Regional level only McCann Trinidad walked away with a Gold at the final, most competitive stage.

Natasha Davis, Acting Head of Marketing Communications, TSTT, said “bmobile has become one of Trinidad’s most highly recognised brands in a short space of time and our marketing communications has had a large part to play in this. The energy and zeal of the creative team from McCann, along with bmobile’s passionate support for the sport brought a natural synergy that proved to be the winning combination.

This international recognition is a great testament to the work done every day by our marketing team and our main communication partner McCann Erickson.”

Creative Director Marvin Imamshah said, “We believe this is a first for Trinidad and Tobago, it is certainly a first for us. We have won many creative awards over the years, local and regional, but this is our first ADDY Gold at the highest tier. It is testament to Trinidad’s growing reputation for creativity in the advertising world.” The GOLD award winning spot was animated by Christopher Guinness, a Graphic Artist at McCann Erickson.
