OFFICIALS from Carnival band Tribe yesterday issued a public apology to its members and revellers for being banned from crossing the stage at the Queen’s Park Savannah in Port-of-Spain on Carnival Tuesday.

CARNIVAL Babies is the 2012 Junior Band of the Year. The mas band, with its presentation Jammin To D Beat — In Memory of Wayne Berkeley won the junior large band category with 463 points. TALES out of Eurasia, a presentation of Skandalus led by Lindy Davidson and Nelsia Ashby, out of Roxborough, copped the Band of The Year title in Tobago with a tally of 1,351 points following the Parade of the Bands in Scarborough on Carnival Tuesday.

ALTHOUGH Sanctification by mas veteran Brian Mac Farlane was yesterday adjudged the Carnival Large Band of the Year, Trini Revellers (which placed second) ruled the scene in Carnival celebrations in Downtown Port-of-Spain.

CARNIVAL las’ lap on Tuesday was a jovial affair in San Fernando as masqueraders and revellers maximised every hour remaining in Carnival 2012 to jump, prance and go down low to their favourite soca hits.

Manzanilla Beach, once famous for Ash Wednesday cooldowns, was relatively empty of people yesterday with a few families and friends gathered on the beach, some playing “small goal” football or ball games in the water.

VENI and Friends hosted a Carnival band named For Allyson to honour the memory of Allyson Hennessy, the veteran television presenter who for decades hosted the ‘live’ coverage on television of the annual Carnival celebrations.
