Quiet Ash Wednesday at Manzanilla
Thursday, February 23 2012 click on pic to zoom in BEACH PATROL: Heavily armed policemen patrol Maracas Bay yesterday which was the scene for the annual after-Carnival cooldown. ... Manzanilla Beach, once famous for Ash Wednesday cooldowns, was relatively empty of people yesterday with a few families and friends gathered on the beach, some playing “small goal” football or ball games in the water. A group of law students from the Sir Hugh Wooding Law School in St Augustine were the largest group of people on the east coast beach. Lifeguards were, however, out in their numbers patrolling and monitoring the few beach-goers out on a sunny day in Manzanilla.
