Manzanilla Beach, once famous for Ash Wednesday cooldowns, was relatively empty of people yesterday with a few families and friends gathered on the beach, some playing “small goal” football or ball games in the water.

A group of law students from the Sir Hugh Wooding Law School in St Augustine were the largest group of people on the east coast beach. Lifeguards were, however, out in their numbers patrolling and monitoring the few beach-goers out on a sunny day in Manzanilla.

A regular police and army patrol at the beach also ensured the safety and security of persons enjoying the beach.
