WHENEVER the weather gets as unpleasant and unsettling as it did last weekend in Europe, you can’t help but associate the deadly drifting snow storms with the 2004 film The Day After Tomorrow, wonder if the movie´s hypothesis — global warming may trigger spells of extreme cold — is an implausible Hollywood concoction as the climate sceptics insist.
