HER grandson was ordered to lie under a bed by gunmen who ransacked her home in the Beetham Gardens. But 53-year-old Jennifer John was not so lucky and instead, was shot and killed in the house by the bandits.

Up to late yesterday, investigators said it appeared that the murder of John, a CEPEP worker, was robbery-related.

According to a police report, John who was also called “Sharon”, was asleep at about 3.30 am, when four men forced their way into her 17th Street-B, Beetham Gardens home. Residents reported hearing gunshots moments later.

Fearing for his life, John’s teenage grandson frantically jumped through a window of the house in a bid to escape the gunmen. Just over a month ago, Moruga-born Stacy Roach, 31, a mother of three, was shot dead near her home on 24th Street, Phase Four, Beetham Gardens. Police believe her killers suspected that she was a police informant.

When Newsday visited John’s relatives at 17th Street-B, they were too distraught to comment. The murder toll now stands at 330. Insp Jayson Forde and WPC Walters of the Homicide Investigations Bureau visited the scene and are continuing investigations.
