5 murder accused appear before JP

Thursday, August 20 2009

Instead of appearing before a Princes Town magistrate, five men charged with the murder of retired police sergeant Harripersad Ramkissoon yesterday stood before a Princes Town Justice of the Peace to answer the charge. Reason for the switch was because both presiding magistrates were absent.

All five accused men — Keron Trotman, 19, of Cottage Road, St John’s Village, San Fernando; Marlon De Couteau, 29, and Junior Cuffy, 25, both of Old Train Line, Marabella; Arnold Phillip, 28, of Chrissie Terrace, Enterprise and Elijah Benjamin, 29, of Pleasantville Circular Road, Pleasant-ville were unrepresented when they appeared in the Princes Town Second Magistrate’s Court before Carol Alexander. The five accused men will re-appear in court on August 28.
