POLICE are now on the hunt for two prisoners who used a steel bar to open a padlock of a cell at the Chaguanas Police Station, before escaping on Saturday.

One of the men has since been re-captured.

Police said at about 5.20 am on Saturday, a group of men were being kept in a holding cell at the station when three of them were discovered missing. The men reportedly made their escape by removing two locks from the back door of the station. The men are aged 21, 24 and 23 from Chaguanas, Cunupia, and San Fernando respectively.

Following a search the Chaguanas man was re-captured, but the other two remain at large. The men were wanted in connection with minor offences and were waiting to be placed on Identification Parades. Meanwhile ACP Shah Mohammed confirms that an investigation was underway into how the men escaped and if there was negligence on the part of the officers.
