AN ARIMA man has succumbed to massive head injuries, two days after he was beaten on the head with a piece of iron by another man during an argument last Saturday.

David Madoo, 32, of Calcutta Road suffered massive head injuries and died at the Intensive Care Unit of the Port-of-Spain General Hospital where he was warded in critical condition. He died on Monday morning.

Madoo was reportedly riding his bicycle en route to the home of a relative to partake in Divali celebrations on Saturday night, when he was accosted by a man who is known to the police and beaten with a piece of iron.

The death has since been classified as a murder and detectives of Arima CID are investigating.
