INSULTING LANGUAGE: School teacher Arthur Ramjit, who has been put on a bond until the magistrate determines the outcome of his case....

A PRIMARY school teacher who allegedly called a police officer on duty an “ass” was ordered by a magistrate to sign a bond of $500 until she determines whether he is guilty or not guilty.

Arthur Ramjit, 43, of Poona Road, Williamsville, yesterday appeared before magistrate Tarmatee Ramdass in the Fifth Magistrate’s Court to answer the charge of using insultive language to a police officer.

Ramjit is a teacher of a primary school in central Trinidad.

The charge was laid by PC Clevon George of the San Fernando Police Station.

Ramjit pleaded not guilty to the charge which alleged that on Monday 30, 2009, along Mucurapo Street, San Fernando, he did make use of insultive language to provoke other persons.

It is alleged that George, dressed in police uniform, was on foot patrol in the vicinity of Mucurapo Street, when Ramjit allegedly approached him and began using insultive language. Ramjit was arrested and charged then taken to the San Fernando Police Station. Ramdass ordered Ramjit to sign the $500 bond, and adjourned the case to December 8.
