WITHIN the space of 12 hours between Tuesday night and yesterday, two men were murdered along the East/West corridor in unrelated shooting incidents bringing the country’s murder toll to 462.

In the first incident, the bullet-riddled body of a man was found on the road near Straker Village in Laventille on Tuesday night.

According to police, residents heard several loud explosions and on checking, found Anthony Felix, 23, dead on the road.

Police are yet to determine a motive for the killing and Besson Street CID officers are continuing investigations.

At about 10 am yesterday, a man who police say was well-known to them, was murdered a short distance from his home.

Police said that residents of Five Rivers, Arouca heard several loud explosions and on checking, saw Ian Ramcharran, 30, bleeding on the road. The father of two was rushed to the Arima Health Facility where he died a short while later.

A team of police led by ASP Johnny Abraham and including Sgt Eric Park and PC Sunil Ramoutar visited the scene. Investigations are continuing.

Also, police are asking the public to assist in identifying the body of a man found on the compound of an old gas station along Wrightson Road, Port-of-Spain on Tuesday.

The body was later removed to the Forensic Science Centre in St James.
