KILLED: Tecia Henry...

TIA and Tamara Henry yesterday sat their Secondary Entrance Assessment (SEA) exam at St Rose’s Girls’ RC School. Shortly after the exam, they spoke to this reporter saying that while they were elated at having gotten through the exam, their hearts were heavy for their murdered sister Tecia Henry.

“We still miss our sister Tecia,” Tamara said as Tia nodded. Tecia who was a fourth standard student of St Rose’s, went missing on June 13 last year and four days later, her body was found near the family’s Laventille home.

Henry who would have celebrated her tenth birthday on June 20 last year, died of strangulation.

When asked about their dead sister, both Tia and Tamara became visibly upset as they bent their heads and avoided questions only nodding and saying “yes”, when asked if they missed Tecia.

Although they experienced such a horrible ordeal, the 12-year-old sisters who were surrounded by their closest friends, said they still studied hard to prepare for the exams.

Tamara agreed with her fellow class-mates that the Math exam was challenging while Tia agreed that “it was kind of hard.”

“I just went in there and remembered what I learned and revised, I am happy it is over and I cannot wait to go home and play,” Tia said. The sisters admitted that they had a lot of help from their mother Diane who revised with them. They are hoping to pass for their first choice of school, Holy Name Convent in Port-of-Spain.
