INVESTIGATIONS have been launched into the disappearance of a hammer stamp and an official receipt book from an office at the Ministry of Agriculture (Forestry Division), San Fernando office.

The hammer stamp, police said, is used by forestry workers to stamp logs which have been sold and allows the wood to be legally removed from the forest. A police report stated that the items were discovered missing from the office some time last week and police called in.

Police have since questioned an employee who said thieves broke into his car and removed the stamp and receipt book while it was parked in the car park of a La Romaine nightclub. Officers of the Fraud Squad are conducting investigations.
