POLICE believe a bloated body found floating off Grand Lagoon beach in Mayaro yesterday could be that of Venezuelan fisherman Asta Labi who went missing last Thursday.

Labi was part of a four-man fishing expedition which left the Orinoco River in Venezuela to fish in the waters off the Gulf of Paria. Police said the boat Goliath overturned and fishermen Sando Marin,32, Jose Marin,15, and Juan Gomez, 26,and Guyanese John Medina, 26, were rescued by Coast Guard.

The body believed to be that of the missing man washed ashore yesterday morning. It was in an advanced stage of decomposition. Immigration officials were contacted and investigations are continuing.
