Cedros man shot while driving

By LAUREL V WILLIAMS Friday, December 3 2010

A CEDROS man remains warded in stable condition at hospital after being shot while driving through a coconut plantation earlier this week.

Errol Sookbir was shot in the left shoulder and arm on Tuesday at about 8.30 pm as he drove his vehicle along Perseverance Estate in Cedros. A police report stated that although the estate is not fully operational Sookbir manages it. The report added that the gunman shot at the moving vehicle from the back, shattering the vehicle’s back glass and injuring Sookbir.

On impact the car swerved off the road as Sookbir clutched his wounded arm. Sookbir managed to telephone the Cedros Police Station and informed officers about the shooting.

A party of officers arrived at the scene and the injured Sookbir was taken to the Point Fortin Area Hospital. Officers searched the area for the gunman but he remains at large up to news time.

Sookbir received medical treatment and was later transferred to the San Fernando General Hospital where he remains warded in stable condition. PC Canju is investigating.
