Barataria police arrested a 14-year-old Arouca boy on Tuesday after he was found to be in possession of various types of ammunition on a secondary school compound.

The information was provided by Public Information Officer, Sgt Wayne Mystar at yesterday’s daily police briefing at the Police Administration Building, Sackville Street, Port-of-Spain.

It was reported that officers from the Barataria CID, acting on information received, went to a secondary school in the district where they found the youth who was in possession of three rounds of ammunition of various calibre.

The officers arrested the boy and took him to the Barataria Police Station where he was charged.

Mystar also provided information on an exercise in the Western Division during which nine men were arrested on various offences.

According to the report, on Tuesday last, the Western Division Tactical Unit conducted a six- hour exercise in the Diego Martin and Petit Valley districts and arrested seven men.

Five of the men, ranging in age from 17 to 22, were arrested for outstanding serious crimes in the area.

Two other men, both 22 years old, were arrested after police executed a search warrant at a Diego Martin house. The arrest was made after a search of the premises uncovered 130 grammes of marijuana, and two rounds of .38 ammunition.

Mystar reported that up to the time of the report, police were still continuing inquiries.
