THE Sangre Grande Magistrates’ Court will remain closed today to allow for the completion of repair work to the roof of the building which began on the weekend. This was revealed in a press release issued yesterday by the TT Judiciary.

This means that there will be no sitting of the courts today and the usual services to the public will be unavailable tomorrow.

Charge cases for the Sangre Grande jurisdiction will be heard at the Arima Magistrates’ Courts.

The Judiciary release stated that remedial and preventive infrastructural work being undertaken includes removal and replacement of the first floor ceiling of the building, as well as resealing of all openings in the roof to prevent infestation by bats and other pests.

An extensive sanitisation exercise of the premises is also being undertaken. It is anticipated that the work will be completed by today to facilitate the resumption of normal operations of the courts tomorrow.
