A 19-YEAR-OLD Beetham Gardens man who was known to the police was gunned down shortly after 4.30 am yesterday a short distance away from his home. According to police reports Kevon Durham alias “Movado” was at Main Street, Beetham, when he was fired upon by a gunman.

Residents later made a check and found the body of Durham in a drain near his #17B Street, home. The body was viewed by District Medical Officer Dr Ramkhelawan and ordered removed to the Forensic Science Centre St James.

Yesterday relatives of the dead man preferred not to comment on his death. However, Homicide Investigations Bureau sources told Newsday that Durham was the main suspect in the murder of another Beetham resident, Keston Williams, who was shot dead last week.

An autopsy carried out at the Forensic Science Centre by Forensic Pathologist Dr Eastlyn McDonald Burris revealed that Durham was shot seven times including four bullet wounds to the head and three to the neck. Police described his killing as an execution. They expressed concern that there may be reprisal shootings by Durham’s associates. Up to press time, no arrest was made and investigations are being continued. Durham’s slaying was the 202nd murder for the year.
