Sexual crimes against children committed by persons of trust are causing distress for National Security Minister Jack Warner.

Warner was responding to questions posed by Newsday, about the upsurge of sexual attacks against children in TT.

Warner said he has noticed there is an increase in rapes within the Longdenville district and said as a result a police post will remain in the area.

“I want the rapists to feel insecure,” Warner said.

Making reference to the spate of sexual offences which have been dominating the media, Warner said it is mind-boggling why “persons in authority will be interfering with the future generation.”

Adding he hoped the attorneys who are representing the individuals charged with sexual offences think twice about accepting the briefs, Warner described the acts committed against children as reprehensible and hopes the convicted offenders feel the “full brunt of the law.”
