A 16-YEAR-OLD secondary school student remains warded in stable condition at the San Fernando General Hospital (SFGH) after being shot in the right arm and abdomen during a robbery in Fyzabad Monday night.

Police said Kern Cooper of Easy Street, Fyzabad, was shot twice while attempting to fight off a gunman, who according to reports, later ripped off Cooper’s gold chain before fleeing the scene.

The teenager attends the Fyzabad Secondary School.

According to a police report at about 8.30 pm on Monday, Cooper was walking along Latchman Drive, Fyzabad, when he was approached by a gunman who announced a hold-up. Cooper put up a struggle and for this, he was shot twice and his jewelry stolen.

The victim was taken to the Siparia Health Facility where he was attended to and transferred to the SFGH where he remains warded. Investigations are continuing.
