Bandit stabbed, ear sliced off

A MAN who robbed his friend of several items, had his right ear severed and was stabbed several times about his body on Saturday at KP Lands, Valencia.
According to a police report, a 21-year-old man was liming at a bar in Chaguanas in the company of his 19-year-old friend. The former had cause to go to a car parked a short distance away from the bar and noticed that $700, which was kept in the vehicle was missing.
The man returned to the bar to continue to lime. At about 4 am yesterday, the limers left the bar and got into the car. On reaching Valencia, the 21-year-old man of KP Lands in Valencia confronted the teen of Pinto Road, Arima and asked him if he had stolen the $700 from the car. The teen then whipped out an ice-pick and placed it to the older manís throat. He then robbed the man of his cellular phone, sneakers, jersey and wallet. As the 19-year-old got out of the car and was walking away, the robbery victim drew a switch blade from his pants pocket and ran after the robber.
The Arima teenís right ear was cut off and he was stabbed several times. As the teen slumped to the side of the road, bleeding heavily from his wounds, the 21-year-old robbery victim got back into his car and drove off.
At about 5 am, a report was made to the Valencia Police that a man was seen lying on the road in a pool of blood. Officers including WPC Cpl Alana Lopez, PCs Satnarine Sankar, Hosein, Ali, Solozano and Charles responded. On arrival at the scene they saw the teen lying on the roadside in a pool of blood. He was rushed to the Sangre Grande District Hospital where he was treated and is warded in a stable condition under police guard. PC Sankar of the Valencia Police Post is continuing enquiries. Police have since seized a switch blade and an ice pick.
