Immigration officer arrested

Friday, January 6 2017

A 35-YEAR-OLD Immigration officer, suspected of granting unlawful extensions to Venezuelan nationals, is now in police custody. The mother of one was arrested at her Edinburgh 500, Central Trinidad home during the early morning hours yesterday by a team of officers led by Head of the Fraud Squad Snr Supt Totaram Dookhie and including Insp Dipchand, Sgts Daniel and Thomas, and WPCs Lazarus and William.

Police sources say Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Roger Gaspard is expected to review the evidence and give advice on the matter shortly. The Immigration officer has maintained her innocence in the matter and investigations are continuing.
