RONDON ON SEX CHARGE: PNM Councillor Terry Rondon is mobbed by mostly women supporters outside of the Sangre Grande Magistrates' Court where he appear...

PNM COUNCILLOR for Toco/Fishing Pond and vicechairman of the Sangre Grande Regional Corporation, Martin Terry Rondon, was granted $150,000 bail when he appeared in the Sangre Grande First Magistrate’s Court charged with three counts of sexual assault against an American female soldier.

Rondon, 59, appeared before Senior Magistrate Lianne Lee Kim charged after the incidents allegedly occurred on June 3 in Salybia, Balandra and Branch Road, Toco.

Fellow councillor Euline Trim (Sangre Grande South) signed the bail for Rondon and Lee Kim requested that the court ensure that everything was accounted for and in order with the bail.

Rondon who is also a director of Regal Tents and Party Supplies was mobbed by dozens of supporters who gathered outside the courthouse to support him.

Rondon appeared calm and he wore a grey shirt-jac and trousers.

His daughter Josanne sat at his side in court.

Rondon’s attorney Sean Cazabon told the magistrate that his client had no previous record and no pending charges. The matter was then adjourned to June 18.

“Remain strong Terry, don’t talk to nobody. You have nothing to say to nobody,” a woman supporter advised him as he made his way out of the courthouse.

A man began a chant, “We love Rondon.” “Terry, two days now I haven’t eaten. They take you away and now I have nothing to eat,” a woman cried. Rondon replied, “I hope you all treat your next councillor the same way that you treat me.” .
