A WIFE'S AGONY: Pulmatie Boodoo is consoled by a relative as she bade farewell to her murdered husband, taxi driver Ramphal Kandan, during his funeral...

MURDERED taxi driver Ramphal ‘Paul’ Kandan was given an emotional send-off replete with tears and screams of sorrow at his funeral service at the house of mourning in Carapichaima yesterday.

Scores of residents turned out to bid farewell to Kandan who was described as hardworking, kind and loving. Kandan’s body which bore stab wounds, was found last week Thursday at Rajkumar Trace, Arena Road in Freeport.

“Why they had to do you this Bobby? Oh God, why? You told me you was coming home just now and look at how you come to me. We always called each other, we loved each other so much, look how you gone and leave me,” screamed Kandan’s wife Pulmatie Boodoo.

“Oh God, give me my justice. It real hurting me, God,” she cried.

Boodoo last spoke to her husband on September 28 on his cell phone. According to a police report, Kandan, who worked his white B13 motorcar along the St Mary’s Junction to Waterloo route, got hired to go to Edinburgh 500, Chaguanas by two women and a man.

Police believe Kandan was subsequently hijacked, robbed of his car and killed. His last words to Boodoo would haunt her for a long time: “I would be home soon and when I come I will tell you everything.”

Boodoo’s son, Satesh delivered the eulogy and described his step-father as being his own dad. “Although he was my step-dad, we were very close, I considered him to be my own father. I loved him. He was hardworking and dedicated to seeing about my mum and us. He was such a soft hearted person and would have always gone out of his way to help others in need,” he said.

The service which took the form of two parts was conducted under Christian rights and officiated by Pastors Naresh Neuhal and Jerome Roberts of the New Testament Church of God, Montrose.

The first service was held at the house of mourning at Temple Street and then at Kandan’s family’s residence at #126 Digity Village, Boodoo Trace, Debe. Kandan was buried at the Transfer Cemetery, Penal.
