IT STARTED with pop classics from the Beatles and ended with a glowing tribute to the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson. In between, offerings from a wide range of genres made for an enjoyable musical feast on Sunday evening as the Love Movement staged their tea party and concert, “A Feast of Love” at the Regency Ballroom of the Hyatt Regency Trinidad in Port-of- Spain.

The evening marked the launch of the group’s new gospel “I’m Forgiven” and music lovers turned out in their numbers to support this venture by one of the country’s outstanding choirs.

Under the direction of founder Bernadette Scott the group - actually three choirs under the banner of the Love Movement - rolled out a musical repertoire, complete with choreography and drama.

First up was the senior choir with a selection of Beatles classics. They were followed by the Lights of Love Children’s Choirs, who delivered a strong message about preserving the environment in “Assignment Earth - What Kids Can Do To Save the Planet”.

Later, in the gospel segment, the senior choir returned to do “Orphans of God”, “Somebody Prayed for Me”, “You Are God Alone”, “How Great Is Our God” and other selections of the CD, including the title track, “I’m Forgiven”. There were also performances by members of the Youth Outreach, including a solo performance by Kyle Oliver doing his own composition, a rap song.

In between, there were testimonies from members of the Youth Outreach about how their involvement in the group had transformed their lives.

For the grand finale, all three choirs joined forces on stage for a powerful rendition of Jackson’s “Heal The World”.

Proceeds from Sunday’s event will go to the Love Movement’s Youth Outreach Programme.
