Fay-Ann created history in Trinidad and Tobago Carnival 2009 by becoming the first woman to win the Power Soca title as well as going on to take the Groovy Soca Monarch and the bmobile People’s Choice titles with her 2009 Carnival contributions “Heavy T Bumper” and “Meet Super Blue”. She then went on to win the 2009 Road March title with her tune “Meet Super Blue” becoming the first woman to take four major titles in a carnival season.
Bunji Garlin is a Ragga Soca artiste from TT. Bunji has won Trinidad’s Soca Monarch competition on several occasions: 2002 (tied with Iwer George) with “Down in the Ghetto”, 2004 with “Warrior Cry,” 2005 with “Blaze the Fire,” both songs were produced by then band member Shawn Noel (Da Ma$tamind) and 2008 with “Fiery.” He placed second in the International Soca Monarch 2009 with “Clear De Road,” while his pregnant wife placed first with “Meet Super Blue.”
On the starting night of July 29, the fete goes to Crown Point where Pstar 20, Redy Mix and Dancin God Syd will entertain the crowds. Dubbed the Caribbean beach party, the Great Fete Weekend remains a big attraction for those who love to party at the seaside.
This five-night beach party super jam showcases the hottest DJs, sound systems, soca and celebrities from TT. It is described as a veritable melting pot of local pop culture and extreme party vibes.
This promising party was born out of the celebrations surrounding the annual power boat racing event. The best parties were to be found at Pigeon Point Beach and they came to overshadow the race itself. Now an event in its own right with a separate date, the Great Fete Weekend stands alone as the number one beach party in the southern Caribbean.
bmobile is now offering five couples a trip to this fete with airfare, accommodation, and season tickets. Customers will be required to top-up their phone with $20 or more from July 10 to 22. Winners will be randomly chosen at the end of the promotion.
