What a culinary evening from Belex!

The Belmont Boys’ Secondary Ex-Pupils Association BELEX’s “An Evening of Culinary Delight” held on Sunday at the St John Ambulance Hall, Wrightson Road, Port-of-Spain had the tastebuds of those in attendance thrilled for the most part of the evening as it was indeed a sheer delight.

A variety of delicious dishes were prepared by chefs from Belmont Secondary, St Mary’s College, Fatima College, the Diplomatic Corps and other organisations. Those dishes included: British Embassy Deputy High Commissioner Jeff Patton – Rugby Ribs, Royal Navy Commander Mike Percharde – Chili, Michael Pon Hong – Peeking Duck Buk King Kaw Lo A Ap and Costa Rican Ambassador Ricardo Thompson Thompson – Gallo Pinto Y Pollo En Esparrago De Crème Al Horno (rice with beans and baked chicken with Cream of Asparagus).

Fatima chefs comprised Keith Simpson – Curry Duck, Ruthven Thompson – Shrimp in Straight Jacket cooked in geera and coconut milk, Derrick Degans – Moussaka and Simone Croney – Pastel Pie while CIC headed by Roberto Ramirez provided – C Food In A Cream Sauce, Nester Lambert – CIC Original White Meat (Turkey), Derron Joseph – Fish From The Saints and Richard Joseph – Sweet Hand On Hot Thighs.

From Armyville came Ashton Bennett with Jungle Chicken and David Scanterbury’s Fish. Then there were scrumptious delights from the Belex Rugby Legends Gregory Rousseau, Anthony Loregnard, Alvin Maraj and David Azola.

Gordon Husbands served Jerk Wings, Winston Borrel – Winston’s Geera Rabbit, Trevor Hoskins – Diane’s & Suzie’s Pork, George Sebro – Curried Lamb in Coconut Milk and Pineapple and Breaded Fillet Fish with Tamarind Sauce, Eddison Carr – Yuh “Carr” Go Wrong With My Chicken (Bake Chicken), Rennie Ambrose – (Chicken) Swell Up Leg and Gentle Lamb, Charles Inniss – O, What A Jerk (Chicken), Keith Robinson – Pork-E-Mon, Dennis Francis – Rio Pescado Mejor (Best King Fish), Darrel Williams – Oh Gosh Jerk Again Jerk Chicken and Belex president Vance Gabriel – Hot Pork on the Spot (Geera Pork).

Speaking after the event Gabriel said: “One of the key sponsors of the event was the NLCB. The event was a fund-raiser for the Belmont Boys Secondary RC School to assist in the development of the new library.”

While patrons dined they were entertained by DJ Red Entertainment and the Neal & Massy Trinidad All Stars Steel Orchestra.

There were also door prizes sponsored by Nestle Trinidad Limited and the Seafood Industries Development Corporation.

All Stars closed the evening at 9.30 pm.
