A CALL made on a cellular phone was what police used to “track” three men who were later arrested yesterday in connection with the brutal chopping of policeman Robert Henry and the assault of his wife Laverne during a robbery at the officer’s Fyzabad home on Tuesday night.

PC Henry who was seriously injured in the cutlass attack remains warded at the San Fernando General Hospital where doctors say his condition is steadily improving.

Two of the men are in their early 20s and are from Train Line in Marabella while their accomplice, 37, lives at Main Road in Fyzabad. The oldest suspect police believe was the driver of the getaway vehicle. A fourth man also from Fyzabad is still at large investigators said.

Henry, a police officer assigned to the Siparia Police Station was beaten, chopped in the head and arm and also bitten several times during a struggle with a cutlass-wielding bandit downstairs his two-storey home at Crest Camp, Fyzabad.

His wife who was also injured during the attack and had to be treated at hospital, is at home recuperating. The couple’s two-year-old daughter who slept in a crib during the attack was unharmed. The suspects are expected to go on ID parade over the weekend. Investigations are continuing.
