THE WOMEN of the Indian High Commission in Port-of-Spain hosted an Indian Food Fair in a vacant lot next to the High Commission’s offices at Victoria Avenue, Port-of-Spain, last Saturday.

It was aimed at raising at least $40,000 for various charitable initiatives spearheaded by Gargi Khul Mishra, wife of High Commissioner Malay Mishra.

The women showed off their culinary skills, preparing a range of dishes from North and South India, including Gobhi Aaloo,Matar Paneer, Naan, Samosa, Dosa and Sambhar.

The food fair was well attended by diplomats, friends and families of the High Commission. Venezuelan Ambassador Maria Eugenia Marcano Casado said she enjoyed the food very much.

Dropping by to sample the Indian cuisine were Foreign Affairs Minister Paula Gopee-Scoon and UNC MP for St Augustine Vasant Bharat.

A raffle drawn during the fair was won by David Newton whose prize is a two-day stay at the Hyatt Regency Hotel.
