MINISTER OF The Arts and Multiculturalism, Winston “Gypsy” Peters had the audience begging for more when he performed at the opening of the Big Apple Calypso Revue calypso tent in Brooklyn, New York, on August 29.

The Trinidad and Tobago Entertainment Company media crew was on hand to capture Peters in action as he put aside his ministerial cap to return to the kaiso stage if only for a moment. Peters opened with “Little Black Boy” and followed up with “Made Off,” which he recorded this year.

The former National Calypso Monarch and reigning National Extempo Monarch also paid tribute to the Lord Kitchener who passed away ten years ago this year. Peters sang the Kitchener classic, “Love In The Cemetery” saying that to him, “it’s possibly the best calypso ever composed”.

“The song is perfect in every way. Kitchener was my mentor.”
