Jaikaran gets help to rebuild

Thursday, September 2 2010

MA PAU Members Club responded to the needs of one of their own members, Harrilal Jaikaran, by giving him $5,000 to rebuild his home after he lost it in a bush fire last March.

The home, which provided shelter for Jaikaran and eight other members of his family, was destroyed when the fire swept through De Gannes Village, Siparia. Jaikaran, a retired police sergeant, lived in the house with his family including his three grandchildren. After the fire, which destroyed 98 percent of the building and its contents, according to the Fire Services, Jaikaran received temporary housing and assistance from the Ministry of Social Development and the Siparia Regional Corporation. Ma Pau’s contribution will go toward building materials for Jaikaran’s new home.
