Rizon to launch first album

Friday, June 22 2012

After several years of performing for and inspiring local youth, artiste Rizon (Shane Gibson) will be launching his first album tomorrow.

Little Carib Theatre, Woodbrook is the venue for the premiere of “Liberate”, the 12 track debut from the young singer who has had a presence locally for the past six years. The album features mostly new music, but also includes his classics including “Reach”, “Amnesia” and “Queen”.

“Liberate” will feature Inspirational/Gospel music with elements of reggae, soca, dancehall and rapso thrown in. This mix describes the music of Rizon over the years.

“I have been working hard at my craft over the years. I’ve always written my own music but I have grown to become a producer,” he said. He produced roughly 40 percent of “Liberate” but was also assisted by Char Sue, Richard “Shams” Browne, Junior Joseph and Johann Seaton of Madmen productions.

Rizon hopes that the songs on his debut album helps liberate listeners in any aspect of their life which may be holding them back.

“With songs like “Reach”, I want people to let go of situations and people who may be holding you back and keeping you down from making an impact on the world. “Amnesia” advises people not to allow wealth and money to rule them. “No Entry” is about being and remaining free and “Liberate” is about leaving poisonous relationships behind,” he explained.

The launch begins at 7pm and will feature performances by Rizon, spoken word artiste, Gary Acosta and gospel artiste, Til Shiloh.
