Caribbean entertainment will take centre stage in St Lucia when Coco Resorts, Turn Key Productions, Omni Entertainment and Digicel’s Coco Cabana present Caribbean Music Fair 2007.

A line-up of Grammy award winners, multi-platinum selling artistes and West Indian legends is slated to perform at Rodney Bay Village in St Lucia from April 23 — 25.

TT’s soca diva Destra Garcia will share the stage with Sean Paul, the Grammy-winning king of dancehall, on April 24. The two superstars have been in the rehearsal room working out appropriate songs for the event. On the opening night, talented reggae legend Beres Hammond will get the action going opposite the legendary David Rudder, considered one of the Caribbean’s most prolific singer/composers and performers.

Award winners Maxi Priest and Shaggy will focus on pleasing the women on the final night of the competition.

The St Lucia-based sponsors have issued an invitation to the Caribbean people to come and enjoy three incredible nights of live music from the top reggae, soca and calypso artistes. There will also be top notch St Lucian performers at the Caribbean Music Fair.

Destra, who had a successful Carnival season, has performed at a number of shows in the Caribbean and North America since the end of Carnival 2007. The soca star continues to thrill her audience with her popular “I Dare You,” and remains one of the most sought after TT soca artistes.

Rudder, on the other hand, said in a previous Newsday report that he is on a Caribbean tour to promote his latest compilation, Cricket Chronicles, which is a tribute to West Indian cricket. It includes hits such as “Rally Round the West Indies,” “Lovely days,” “Caribbean Party,” “Knock Dem Down,” and “Legacy.”

Meanwhile, Digicel’s Coco Cabana managing director, Trevor Hunte, said the event will target as many as 8,000 people from the Caribbean.
