POET Anson Gonzalez will be conducting “Master Anson’s Poetry Writing SkilShop” , at the National Library on Saturdays from June 14 to July 19.

Gonzalez, a renowned literary figure has been the editor of New Voices magazine for more than 25 years. The six-week course is presented by the Writers Union of Trinidad and Tobago

Gonzalez’s very popular “Poetry Dojos”, as he calls them, lay firm literary foundations not only for writing poetry but for all writers. He feels the creative voice, spirit and sensitivity awakened by poetry informs all writing and also life values.

Gonzalez, a former president of the Writers Union, was specially recognised at several events including the University of Southern Caribbean, which held an Anson Gonzalez Day. Recently he was invited to give a lecture, do a reading and hold a public workshop by the Bute Town Historical Society of Cardiff, Wales. He also was asked to hold a workshop for Masters degree students at the University of Cardiff.

“ Keep TT Literate and Literary” is one of the educational objectives of the Writers Union. Their courses help to facilitate this, as well as bi-monthly sessions at NALIS.
