THE UPTOWN Carnival Improvement Committee (UCIC) has released its 2009 Carnival results for the various categories of competitions which took place on Carnival at Sunday, Monday and Tuesday at the Piccadilly Greens, in Port-of-Spain, the birthplace of Trinidad’s Carnival.

More than 107 participating bands passed through this judging point.

One of the highlights of events hosted by the UCIC Camboulay procession on Carnival Friday morning. It was well organised and attracted thousands of spectators at this venue.

Attending events at the Piccadilly Government were officials from South Africa, Makandal Daaga and members of NJAC, representatives from Boston Carnival, Labour Day, Montreal, Miami, Nottinghill Carnival, Grenada, St Lucia, St Vincent and Guyana among other invited guests and visitors.

Uptown Carnival was incident free. UCIC officials have expressed their thanks to the participants, spectators, visitors, the National Carnival Commission, TSTT, NLCB, Unit Trust, the Police Service, the media and the community at large who assisted in one way or another to making the Carnival on the Piccadilly Greens a success.
