“PILGRIMAGE 2009” comes off this weekend – Glorious Saturday – at MOBS 2 Chaguaramas.
Under the banner The Gathering of Families – One Faith, One Family, One Love, the all-day mega event starts promptly at 10 am, with its children's segment.
“The musical talents of pre-teens and teens from across the country shall be showcased, with many children from various children's homes being invited,” one of the organisers said.
The Pilgrimage is hosted by I 95.5 FM and managed by popular Gospel radio personality Jamie Thomas.
This year's show draws artistes from as close as St Lucia, and as far as South Africa. Popular Reggae Gospel singer Lester Lewis, will also be flying in from his homeland Jamaica, to join the international cast.
Two talented locals residing abroad, Sherwin Gardner and Barbara Flemming, will be returning for a “family reunion”.
Also among the big names coming in will be Russell Leonce, Emrand Henry, Felicia Marion and DJ Nicholas. The list of the local cast is not a long one this year, but it's evidently quite impressive, with leading favourites like Positive, Winsie-Ann Cuffie, Rev Angela Williams and the Burton Sisters. The first three, in particular, have a wealth of experience on both the local and international stage and are expected to match their foreign counterparts toe-to-toe, in creating impact and bringing glory to their Lord.
There is much excitement building over what's perhaps the current leading hit in local Gospel music – an extremely infectious single which was released a few weeks ago by Winsie-Ann.
With the title and theme “He's Alive”, the song fits snugly into the season of Easter, with its strong lyrical content on the resurrection of Christ. Some radio DJs and pastors say it's the fastest song to gain this kind of momentum, in a while. Teenager Winsie-Ann is also expected to bring other big hits like “Fired Up” and “Jump and Wave It Now – for Jesus, to the MOBS 2 stage on Saturday.
The show is being heavily promoted and from all indications will draw another large crowd this year.
