MATHURA Boodoosingh, 58 is frustrated over the non-payment of his disability grant for several months.

Boodosingh, of Palmiste Village, Chaguanas, said he has not received his disability grant of $1,400 since July of last year.

Boodoosingh, who suffers from back pains, told Hotline that he was qualified to receive the disability grant after his doctor said that he was medically unfit to work.

“After I began having these problems with my back, I went to the doctor and he said that I was not longer fit to work. If I could work, I will work, but I’m not fit,” he said.

He said he has been surviving on the grant but it stopped coming as of last July.

“The NIB sent me a letter and said that I had to do a review by a doctor before they can continue to give me the grant. I went by the doctor and he examined me and did the review and said that my condition had not changed and I was still unfit to work,” Boodoosingh said.

“I have called the Chaguanas branch of the National Insurance Board several times and all they keep telling me is that they have not received the report from the doctor. But the doctor said he sent the report so I don’t know what is going on.”

When contacted, an official at the NIB’s Chaguanas branch said they will contact Boodoosingh for further information so that they can investigate.
