FOR MORE than four years, Victor Turpin has been waiting on the Board of Inland Revenue (BIR) to rectify a problem with two outstanding cheques owed to him.

Turpin, of Palm Drive, Champ Fleurs, claimed he has not received the cheques for his income tax returns for 2006 and 2007.

He said when he visited the BIR’s office he was told that both cheques were mailed to him but he claims he did not receive either cheque.

Turpin said he also checked with the post office.

Turpin, a retired offshore worker, said he does not understand what is going on.

“I have bills to pay and they keep giving me the run around,” he said.

A senior official at the BIR offices told Hotline that both cheques were issued to Turpin, but according to their records, neither were cashed.

The official advised Turpin to return to the BIR offices and he may be able to get one of the cheques, but for the other he must wait six months until it expires before it can be re-issued.
