PENSIONER Vera McEachrane, who recently complained to the People’s Hotline about loud drumming emanating from a Baptist church near her La Romaine home, yesterday said the drumming has become much softer.

“The drumming has lessened a bit although I am still bothered by the loud shouts when worshippers pray at the church. I don’t mind people worshipping but it does not have to be so loud,” she said.

Two weeks ago, McEachrane, 70, of Betsy Street complained that she has been having restless nights because of the loud drumming at the St Ann’s Spiritual Baptist Temple.

She said she had reported the matter several times to the police and the Environmental Management Authority (EMA), but nothing was done.

“Since Newsday highlighted the problem, I must say the drumming does not go on for as long as it used to. But the loud praying is continuing.”

McEachrane yesterday said should the noise persist she will be left with no choice but to seek legal advice. “I have already spoken to my lawyers and will take legal action against them if my peace continues to be affected especially at nights,” she added.
