No phone for Moruga school

Thursday, March 4 2010

SANTA MARIA RC School, in Moruga, is perhaps the only school in Trinidad and Tobago which does not have a telephone.

Concerned parents said they believe the school has been neglected by the Government and the Education Ministry because of its location.

Mary Guevarro, 25, said the school should be outfitted with a telephone so that parents can contact school officials.

“This is probably the only school in the country that never had a telephone. It makes me wonder if the Education Minister and her Ministry is aware that Santa Maria RC exists. I am sure staff members use their cellphones to communicate with the ministry,” Guevarro said.

Guevarro said she intends to lobby the ministry for a telephone for the school.
