TWENTY-YEAR-OLD Aaron Mahabal is seeking assistance from the National Insurance Board to pay for medical expenses he incurred due to injuries he sustained as a result of an accident last September.

But instead of getting the money from the NIB, Mahabal says all he is getting is the run-around.

Mahabal, of Webber Trace, Palo Seco, pleaded with the authorities to give him the money.

Mahabal’s father, Deonath, said every month his son has to visit a doctor and he has to dip further into his pockets to pay for his mounting medical bills.

Mahabal was burnt in the eyes when a car battery exploded while he was at work as a welder in Penal.

Since the accident, Mahabal only received returns on medical claims for three weeks.

He said the NIB officials have told him his claims were in the hands of a doctor who was dealing with them.

An official when contacted yesterday refused to give any information on Mahabal’s complaints and referred all queries to the NIB’s head office in Port-of-Spain.

The phones kept ringing at the Port-of-Spain offices when Hotline called yesterday.
