Technical problems at the desalination plant in La Lune, Moruga, cause some of the problems being experienced by residents in the area, who have complained of not getting a regular supply of water.

Ellen Lewis, general manager, Communications, at WASA, said the plant currently had a production capacity of 100,000 gallons of water per day, which supplies La Lune Village and parts of Marac village, Moruga.

She said as a result of its limited production capacity and size, it can only serve the needs of the immediate community.

“We are also experiencing technical difficulties at the plant which are affecting our ability to deliver a reliable pipe-borne water supply to the residents of La Lune and part of Marac,” she said, adding that the authority was doing its best to serve its customers and reminded residents that they can apply for a truck-borne supply.

Residents of Remy Trace and other areas in Penal Rock Road, Moruga, complained of not receiving water because of old and corroded pipelines in the area.
