HARRY St Bernard, of 24 3/4 Mile Mark, Cumana Village, Toco, has received a rebate from TSTT and his telephone service has been restored, after his phone line went dead since September last year.

St Bernard said he and his wife called TSTT and went to their offices in Arima on several occasions. At first they were told the telephone company was repairing and replacing cables in the area. However, St Bernard later found out that his neighbours were getting service, but he was not.

He was then told there was something wrong with his connection and he would get a rebate.

In January, St Bernard said he was still being billed for a service he was not receiving. On Friday, TSTT’s media relations manager Graeme Suite told Hotline that St Bernard’s service was restored last week Monday and a rebate was given to him for the period that his phone was out of service.

Suite also said the problem with St Bernard’s phone originated because TSTT is upgrading the system in North East Trinidad to link customers to its Next Generation Network (NGN) which is used to support new services for Broadband and ultimately its subscription TV service.

“The work being done involves transferring customers’ lines to the new network,” Suite explained.
