THE EDITOR: EMA is simply a waste of time! On Monday 8, there was an extremely dangerous fire in the Las Lomas area. It was initially a bush fire that eventually found its way into an abandoned warehouse that stored a highly flammable liquid. As the flammable contents in the warehouse started to burn, residents were sent scampering for safety as their houses began to be covered by not just toxic fumes and smoke but also by this liquid.

Everyone from firemen to police responded! No matter how much calls were made to the EMA it was impossible to speak to someone there. At the time of writing this letter the EMA was still unreachable.

As poisonous chemicals contine to flow into the ground and eventually into the water table just trying to contact the EMA to view the situation is a task by itself.

I strongly believe that the government gets rid of this organisation since they seem to serve no purpose. Why pay people for doing nothing? While we may be heading towards vision 20/20 the EMA continues to operate in BC!
