Review land utilisation plan
Friday, March 12 2010 THE EDITOR: Climate Change means more, perhaps, than we have considered. Although some islands are now actually negotiating with large countries for land to settle their entire populations, our entire country should not be drowned; parts will be saved. But arable land will be considerably reduced. Consequently, we shall need to develop techniques for food-crop production in hilly and even mountainous areas and we should be grateful for all the arable land then left. At present, we need all good agricultural land to make us less dependent on imported food which becomes more costly as “green fuel” takes over food-crop lands.
