THE EDITOR: I voted for a government that would find a way to end the out-of-control, senseless violence in this country. And what do I get? A government that is hell-bent on joining the violence!

Hear their solution: Minister of Works — start the hangings now!

Minister of National Security — I agree with hanging

Attorney General — is said to be looking into the resumption of hanging.

These pronouncements have brought forth a calling for blood by citizens up and down the length and breadth of the country. The violence is now on all sides, surrounding us, seeking to consume us!

As if that is not enough, the Minister of Justice who only recently returned from a near encounter with his Maker has taken the blood-curdling chorus to a new crescendo: “Persons should be hanged in Woodford Square, 6 or 7am. The people should see the hangings take place, they need to feel the fear of God and have fear of the law”.

A hysterical, barbaric response to the crime situation suggests that my government feels helpless in the face of the violence all around us and feels that the only resort is to fight violence with violence.
