Setting a bad example
Thursday, June 21 2012 THE EDITOR: One thing is clear! Notwithstanding his laudable century in the third cricket test match against England, Mr Denesh Ramdin is, by no stretch of imagination, in the class of wicket keeper / batsman which has graced West Indies Cricket Teams of the past. Indeed we must accept that the same applies to all teams which have been selected within recent times, hence our poor showing in all aspects of the game. Sir Vivian Richards is, without doubt, an icon of the game. One is certain that when he makes a comment, of whatever kind, on the state of any aspect of West Indies Cricket, he does so with deep commitment. This writer is sure that his comment on Mr Ramdin’s performance was intended to be honourable and to be helpful to the youngster. It is to be regretted that this was not being seen in this light by Mr Ramdin and by others who claim to be his well-wishers but who ought to know better.
